OSRC Status and News
by website@gizmoforyou.com (GizmoMan Z)
More than 6 months ago we presented to the world our latest creation, the OSRC (Open Source Remote Control) project which has been our proudest design. The system incorporates technology as simple as button control and as complex as Linux based UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) navigation. In the beginning of summer we finally brought the system to operational stages and prepared the concept for production. However, due to financial as well as other difficulties we simply could not finish our target quantity in time, which should have been ready by August, based on our initial calculations.

Due to the great potential of the project and the fact that it brings the world of Remote Controlled Vehicles to a completely new level, we have taken few steps back and decided to reset our strategy and begin once again from a fresh new approach.

The System

Since quite some time passed after our initial prototype creation, we shall be upgrading the feature list of the project as well as redesigning some key aspects on both, electronic as well as mechanical areas. We have some great ideas on how to make the best RC system even better and incorporate the best that technology has to offer as well as make the already widely modular system even more versatile. By the time we finish our design refinements, we expect the entire experience to be even better than what we initially published.

As an additional aspect, we should mention that renaming the system is not out of the question since we shall be working on many new modules, additions and even new revisions for the project, so a more versatile name shall have to be thought of to accommodate all future activities from which model naming and other separations will derive.

The Community

OSRC incorporates almost all elements that a system engineer can ask for. Mechanical design, RF communications, embedded computing, robotic mechanization and other fields, which merge into one unified system. From an engineering point of view this is everything any developer could ask for, tinkering with the most popular technologies which in turn if combined, can give great and even in some cases unexpected results.

For the above mentioned as well as other reasons, combined with our own believe in the project, we shall be reorganizing the OSRC experience completely in terms of community and interactivity.

To describe the idea in a nutshell, we shall be turning things around and shall be concentrating on the OSRC website. Redesigning the site to a dynamic space where all OSRC, UAV and other enthusiasts can exchange ideas, ask questions or simply post their RC adventures. On the other hand, we shall archive the Gizmo For You site with documentation on all our past projects for all those who need details about them and just create a nice Front page describing our current occupation which shall be the Manufacturing and support of the OSRC system. This should clear up any confusion related to the project and generate a central web space for our current and future occupation. Based on this idea, we shall also be closing the Gizmo For You shop since the project distribution shall be following a different route which should benefit all. This also means that information given to all potential distributors of the OSRC system is now void and all organizations who are interested, should enquire once again the OSRC team for a new set of information when we publish the project for availability.

In all situations, os-rc.com, gizmoforyou.com and gizmoforyou.net domains shall all point in one way or another to the main project site.

When

For the time being we do not have a specific date for the release and availability of the system since many aspects play a great role in its development and distribution. We do estimate however that the old web spaces for Gizmo For You and OSRC shall be fading out by the end of this year, at which point we should have a better idea on publication of the fresh project space. Naturally the project availability and status is directly linked to its publication, so when the pages are renewed and redesigned, the project it self should not be far behind in being available for everyone to acquire. Although obscure, we do expect to release the system soon, however how soon for the time being is still unsure.

As always, if there are any questions about the system or any comments you would like to add then don't hesitate to do so and we shall be more than happy to reply or comment back. Hopefully our new approach to the project shall benefit everyone and provide to the public a truly unique system to use and apply to many different fields.

Samo pratim, zvucalo je odlicno, pa postam.
Pratim i Turnigy 9XR, FlySky i9x, FrSky X12D, Jeti DS-16...
)XR kasni 3-9 mj kazu plastike ostancane

Tko zna letit zna i čari a to nisu samoupravljive ptičice - jer tu nema čari.
